People have always linked
diabetes and obesity, but a bear sheds new light on this affiliation. Researchers
who studied the bears’ behavior, discovered a natural state of diabetes, which
answers a real biological purpose and it is reversible. In
the fall, bears is preparing for hibernation, and
they virtually gormandize themselves until they become obese, without diabetes.
They become diabetic in a few weeks after the hibernation begins, then somehow,
they “cure” of diabetes when they wake up in the spring.
During
the hibernation weeks, they enter into a similar state of type 2 diabetes
mellitus, non-insulin independent. People with type 2 diabetes meet a relative
deficiency of insulin and the cells lose their ability to respond to this
hormone that helps regulate sugar levels in the body. Bears have acquired the
power to go and stop the activity of this protein in fat cells, representing as
a switch and making bears more or less sensitive to insulin when necessary. So,
in the springtime, when the bears come out of hibernation, they trigger the
switch, becoming more sensitive to insulin. we aim to bring you the most up to date and Health newsstories from around the globe.
